Music is limitless.
My compositional work has primarily been in theatre. Being a vocalist and performer I have a natural sense of drama and can apply this to my compositional works. I have broadened my skill-set to cover screen, gaming and dance. Current projects include Dance Star Australia, Express by One Eye Open, Eyes of The Beholder by Michael Butler & The Normal One by Jeremy Anderson.
EXPRESS
by One Eye Open
Set on a vintage steam train, 'EXPRESS' is an interactive production built around the extravagant yet twisted personalities that jump onboard. A mysterious show that encompasses a variety of vocal, dance, intrigue and visual delight.
I love composing theatre music, I get the freedom to make it larger than life. The music draws upon Jazz, Cabaret, and Show-tunes, all the whilst blending it with contemporary music production. The trick with theatre music, is catering to the many needs of live performance, thick harmonies for the ensemble, orchestral hits for drama, an instrumental dance break and catchy melodies that have the audience humming at the end of the show. ‘Express’ will be returning the stage in July 2022 and will be releasing a cast soundtrack shortly.
Dance Star Australia
Dance Star, created by Kim Grant-Taylor, is an educational pre-school program established in 2019. It is a new program designed to educated children in a inclusive, educational, inspiring and always positive.
My role as the composer is to create catchy, fun and engaging songs, whilst delivering different genres, tempos, rhythms and dance styles. The music is designed to be educational and bring the very best out of every Dance Star. Here are a few examples.
The Dementia Podcast
As Music Supervisor and composer for The Dementia Podcast my role has been to curate a team of young composers from The University of Sydney and guide the team to deliver elegant scoring.
