Research

Music is more than performing or writing. There is a whole research world to explore.

As a young academic, I’ve found the impact of knowledge and research imperative to the musician I am and the way I conduct my craft.

Research is for all ages and people, you just have to be willing to delve into unknown territory.

I am currently completing my Doctorate of Musical Arts at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, University of Sydney under the supervision of Dr. Narelle yeo.

Research has taken me across the globe, having presented my work at the International Jazz Voice Conference in Helsinki, Finland and soon the International Federation of Theatre Research World Congress, Reykjavik, Iceland.

I’m always seeking new findings, new collaborators and new ways of thinking. Please get in touch if you would like to talk further, collaborate or read my papers.

My areas of interest include:

  • Gender Disparity in Music Theatre Composition

  • Gender perceptions in Music Theatre songs

  • Writing the Marginalised Voice in Theatre

  • Women in Jazz

Presenting my work “The Shadowed Instrumentalist”
